Shooting with Jewelry E-Commerce Photographer Kate Benson
When I was a child, I would pour myself over jewelry catalogs in complete fascination. I loved seeing each piece and how they looked in the images. It has been a long journey, but after over 10 years, I’ve become the jewelry e-commerce photographer I am today.
Jewelry is an extremely challenging and interesting product to shoot. It seems like the smaller the product, the larger the set and production needs to be to get that perfect photograph. And even the nature of shooting jewelry alone can be difficult, too. I’ve done shoots with armed security guards watching, and locked in vaults with multiple security checks before even entering. I’ve shot in the personal homes of jewelers, and almost everywhere else you can think of. I also find the lighting to make diamonds and other cut stones sparkle, can be the exact opposite of what the smoother metals need. But I absolutely love all of it. I refuse to compromise my standards as a jewelry e-commerce photographer, and I want to make every piece I handle to look absolutely stunning.
Here are some samples of my work with jewelry. To see more examples and other pieces, go to the Charleston product photographer gallery.
